American Marketing and Sales Group (AMSG) was originally established by Andrew J. Hilger and Roland J. Spurrell, in October 1989 in Portland, Oregon representing products in the Pacific Northwest, Alaskan and Hawaiian territories.

 

Originally specializing in products for the Pool & Spa business, AMSG soon added products from the Plumbing and Kitchen & Bath industry, eventually phasing out of the Pool & Spa business altogether.

 

By 1991 AMSG offices were well established both in Portland and Seattle. A new warehouse was added in late 1991, when AMSG was asked to become a “stocking manufacturers’ representative” by two of the represented manufacturers.

 

From 1990 to 1997, AMSG was honored each year, with several achievement awards for “Outstanding Territory Sales Growth” and “Customer Service”.

 

In 1997, a unique and special opportunity presented itself to Andy Hilger to leave AMSG and join George Morlan Plumbing Supply, an 80 year old, family owned business as the Corporate Sales Manager. After careful consideration and discussion with the employees of AMSG, the tough decision to leave AMSG was made in late ‘97.

 

AMSG & Associates, Incorporated, was established in late ’97, by Roland Spurrell to smoothly transition American Marketing and Sales Group out of the marketplace.  This firm continues representing most of AMSG’s manufacturers from 1997.

 

In 2007, at the urging of family and friends, Andy Hilger decided to re-establish American Marketing and Sales Group (AMSGnw), and leave George Morlan Plumbing Supply. The decision to leave this exciting, unique, sales driven and successful company, after 10 years was, again, carefully considered, but the opportunity to partner with family just entering the business world, as well as old business friends, outweighed the security of a great job.

 

Today, American Marketing and Sales Group office is based in Portland, with its warehouse in Clackamas, Oregon and is solely owned by the Hilger family.

 

American Marketing and Sales Group, is supported by a wide variety of electronic communication and modern  sales aides, yet will continued to be modeled in the tradition of the “Old School” reps offering;  personality, outstanding product knowledge, customer support and sales ability for the Pacific Northwest, Alaskan and Hawaiian territories.
